Commander II acquittal: State seeks High Court opinion

THE State wants Lusaka High Court to give an opinion regarding a magistrate’s decision to acquit Francis Muchemwa, alias commander II, and his companies on three out of the 10 corruption-related charges.
The prosecution team wants the magistrate to refer the matter to the High Court so that it can give its opinion regarding the lower court’s decision to free the accused and two companies of some charges.
In the submissions, the State argues that a prema facie case should have been made against the accused in respect of three counts.
