Under-17 coach unveils provisional squad

UNDER-17 national team coach Chris Kaunda has named a 27-member provisional team for the Africa Junior Championship slated for next month in Niger.
Team manager Goodson Mbozi, who released the names in Lusaka yesterday, said the team will regroup in Lusaka today to start preparations for the championship.
Mbozi said eight players, who were not part of the team during the qualifiers, have been included in the team.
He said the technical bench has lined up a number of programmes to help the players prepare adequately for the championship.
“All players are expected to report in camp today [yesterday] at the FAZ Technical Centre. We have new players in the team and they have all gone through the MRI [Magnetic Resonance Imaging] test. Seven of them have passed while one failed,” Mbozi said.
Zambia are in Group A with hosts Niger, Nigeria and Guinea while Group B has Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Mali and South Africa.
The championship will run from February 15 to March 1.
The Africa Youth Championship will also be used as a qualifier for the 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup to be held later this year.
The team includes Dan Sikanyika, Albert Mwanza, Jackson Kakunta, Victor Chungu, Edwin Chipile, Steven Chulu, Gift Sikaonga, Prosper Chiluya, Shadreck Shimumbwa.
Others are Musonda Siame, Enoch Mwepu, Pumulo Siwanga, Garry Mwelwa, Ken Sinkala, Mwansa Mwila, Wayne Museba, Ngosa Sunzu, Patson Daka.
The rest are Maybin Kalengo, Peter Nyirenda, Salati Lungu, Edward Chimfwembe, Mike Bifesa, Alfred Chirwa, Edward Mwanza, Benjamin Phiri and Bradford Chibwe.
