ZRA launches new Chipata office

By DARLINGTON MWENDABAI
THE Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has commissioned a K700,000 domestic taxes office building in Chipata in an effort to improve revenue collection and tax administration in Eastern Province.
ZRA commissioner general Berlin Msiska said the commissioning of the new building will enable the authority to collect adequate revenue to support Government programmes.
Mr Msiska said this during the commissioning of a ZRA domestic taxes building in Chipata yesterday.
“This refurbishment has been met at a total cost of K716,000. With this new facility, we shall effectively execute our mandate and corporate objective of optimising revenue collection,” Mr Msiska said.
The building, which was once used as a warehouse, has been refurbished to satisfy the needs of a cash office and advice centre with a complete internet bureau.
Internet access by customers will enable them to carry out electronic or e-filling and e-returns on the online tax system.
The commissioning of the new office comes at the time when ZRA is implementing tax online, which is a robust web-based tax administration platform, which comes with e-functionalities that enable clients to transact on a 24-hour basis.
Mr Msiska said in order to improve international trade facilitation; ZRA commenced the roll-out of Asycudaworld, a customs transaction platform, at its ports countrywide.
ZRA Eastern Province manager Mary Kayumba commended management for commissioning the new building which she described as the jubilee gift.
Mrs Kayumba said ZRA officers in Chipata are now motivated to work in a conducive environment and promised that Chipata residents will continue to receive professional customer services.
