A ZAMBIA National Service (ZNS) male officer in Lumezi, Eastern Province, has been detained in connection with the death of a female colleague whom he had taken out for a drink but was later discovered dead at the old airstrip in Lundazi.
The female officer, who was found dead on Saturday, has been identified as lieutenant Emmy Musenge, 31, based at Ng’onga camp.
Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed to Breeze FM in Chipata that an officer is being held in connection with the death but did not give out further details saying investigations into the matter are on-going.
But police sources have told Zambia Daily Mail that on Friday, the deceased went out for a drink within Lumezi in the company of other ZNS officers.
After a few drinks at some spot, around 20:00 hours, the team went to Tafika Night Club, where they continued drinking up to 01:00 hours when they left to go back to the camp in Lumezi and the deceased was among other officers.
