ZJGA engages SA coaches

THE Zambia Junior Golf Association (ZJGA) has hired two South African coaches Karl Hassler and Paul Cunningham to drill an eight-man team that will represent Zambia at the 2015 Zone Six Golf Championship in Uganda.
ZJGA director Aloysius Phiri said in Kitwe yesterday that Hassler and Cunningham will work with local coach Obed Sholoma in preparing golfers that went in camp yesterday at Lusaka Golf Club.
Phiri said ZJGA has decided to reinforce the technical bench to ensure the golfers perform well at the event teeing off next Monday in Kampala.
“These are highly qualified coaches who are accredited to the Royal and Ancient and are members of South Africa’s Professional Golfers Association (PGA). We want our boys to go to Uganda well-prepared,” Phiri said.
He said the team will leave for Uganda on Sunday.
He said the duo will also conduct some coaching clinics before returning to South Africa.
The Uganda-bound team comprises Aaron Simfukwe, Peter Munyinya, Sydney Wemba, Boyd Kapalamoto, Denmark Mulambo, Kelvin Chibuye, Gabriel Chibuye and Tristan Brice.
Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) president Charles Mwanza will be delegation leader.
The Zone Six Golf Championship will run from April 14 to 18 in Kampala.
