ZICTA approves 5 tower sites in Kalomo

ZAMBIA Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) has approved five sites for installation of towers to improve communication in Kalomo.
Kalomo district commissioner Cosmas Chiba said the distrct has a challenge with communication which is an important factor in achieving development.
Mr Chiba said this on Thursday when Ministry of Energy and Water Development permanent secretary Edward Chomba paid a courtesy call on him during the tour of dams and boreholes in Southern Province.
“We are happy that ZICTA has promised that it will put up five towers and works are expected to start in April this year,” he said.
He said once the district has efficient communication, it will enable the public conduct businesses such as mobile money and order supplies via phones.
He said with improved network connection, it will enhance internet in the area and help keep the people abreast with what is happening around the world.
Mr Chiba also said central roads in the district are in a poor condition and need urgent attention.
He called on Road Development Agency to work on roads in the area for ease accessibility.
