Zesco in injury setback

ZESCO United defender David Odhiambo has been ruled out of Sunday’s CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg against Mbabane Swallows due to injury.
Coach George Lwandamina confirmed from Mbabane yesterday that Odhiambo has a torn muscle.
“I thought David will replace Nyambe Mulenga but he [Odhiambo] is out because of an injury. Football is a physical sport and injuries are normal,” Lwandamina said.
Mulenga is recuperating from injuries sustained from a road accident last December.
Lwandamina said the Kenyan defender trained on Monday and Tuesday but got hurt during a training session yesterday.
He, however, put up a brave face saying a replacement will be found.
Lwandamina said the rest of the players are injury-free.
He said the Zambian champions are in Swaziland for victory.
Lwandamina said Zesco will not underrate Swallows.
Meanwhile, Swallows chief executive officer Sibusiso Manana has declared his team ready for the clash against Zesco, ROBINSON KUNDA reports.
Manana told the Swazi Observer that Swallows have prepared well for the encounter set for Somhlolo Stadium in Mbabane.
“We have an injury-free squad and the players are all responding well to the coach’s training method. One can plead for support from the nation,” he said.
Manana said since Swallows are representing the country there is need for Swazis to turn up in numbers on Sunday.
The winners after two legs will progress to the first round and will face either Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast or Guinea’s AS Kaloum.
