Zesco face National Assembly hurdle

CHAMPIONS Zesco United today hope to continue the surge towards the fifth MTN Super Division title when they host National Assembly in a Week 24 match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Third-placed Power Dynamos face Konkola Blades at home while Green Buffaloes host relegation-threatened Nakambala Leopards at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
Zesco have 52 points, six better than Zanaco and Power while Buffaloes are on 36.
Zesco are set to worsen National Assembly’s relegation woes when the first and bottom-placed sides clash.
While Zesco are targeting victory to maintain the grip on the log, Assembly will also hope to start winning this afternoon to brighten their chances of staying in the elite league.
Zesco is enjoying top form and the Parliamentarians should brace for a tough match.
The Ndola outfit will look to league top-scorer Winston Kalengo, Jackson Mwanza, Cletus Chama and Mwape Mwelwa to move closer to bagging the fifth Super Division title.
Smarting from a 0-2 loss to Nchanga Rangers, Assembly could cause an upset if they are underrated.
Assembly have 17 points.
Power Dynamos will seek bouncing back to winning ways when they entertain Konkola Blades at Kitwe’s Arthur Davies Stadium.
Having settled for an away 1-1 draw with Red Arrows, Power will be eager for a win to maintain pressure on leaders Zesco.
Power coach Tenant Chilumba knows failure to collect maximum points can dent the team’s chances of winning the title.
On the other hand, Blades are also looking for maximum points to pull away from the relegation-threatened teams – Napsa, Forest and Assembly.
Chilumba will rely on Luka Lungu, Martin Phiri, Kennedy Mudenda and Julius Situmbeko while his Blades’ counterpart, John Munkonje, will count on Brian Chewe for victory.
Blades have 22 points.
Elsewhere, Green Eagles face Nkwazi at Independence Stadium in Choma, Forest Rangers host Red Arrows while Napsa Stars welcome Nchanga Rangers at Lusaka’s Woodlands Stadium.
