ZAMBIA Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) will this year create a database for agro-chemical dealers countrywide to help in regulating their operations.
Speaking during a workshop in Lusaka yesterday, ZEMA inspectorate manager Julius Daka said the agency has embarked on a K643,760 project to equip agro-chemical dealers in six provinces. The targeted provinces are Lusaka, Central, Eastern, Copperbelt, North-Western and Southern.
“ZEMA is targeting a development and endorsement training of 250-350 dealers in all six provinces,†Mr Daka said.
He said the introduction of a database will promote compliance levels and that with the increasing number of agro-chemical dealers, it is important for the country to strengthen measures in regulating the players in the sector.
