FOUR comedians, three from Uganda and one from Rwanda, arrived in the country on Wednesday ahead of the Night of Laughter comedy show set for Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka tonight.
The Ugandan comedians are Collins “Emek” Emeka, Coltildah Inapu and Emmanuel, aka Napoleon, who are joined by Michael Sengazi of Burundi.
The show, which is dubbed “Zed Laugh Festival’’, will also feature local comedians Chibwe Katebe, Abel Chungu, Ba Emma, Cheelo Mwanachingwala, Danny and Chingliz, among others.
In total, though, 13 foreign comedians from 10 African countries, which include South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Botswana and South Africa, are expected to feature at the festival.
Speaking on arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, Coltildah urged Zambians to turn up in numbers and enjoy the night of laughter.
Coltildah, who has come with her seven-month-old baby boy, promised to give Zambians value for their money.
“Zambians should expect the best from us. We’re here to make sure we give them the best and value for their money. Everyone who will attend the show will laugh, whether they like it or not,” an excited Coltildah said.
Coltildah said she always feels at home whenever she visits Zambia and is eager to sample some local dishes.
Sengazi, who is visiting for the first time, says they have brought a luggage of laughter and those in attendance will certainly be entertained.
Emek, who is visiting the country for the second time, commended Zambians for being hospitable and welcoming.
“I expect to have fun and make more friends. Zambians are loving people and welcoming. This country is very beautiful and I know that we will have a good time together,” he said.
