THE Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) will appoint a matron to oversee the affairs of the women national team.
General secretary Bright Chomba said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that men’s coaches will drill the women’s team alongside a matron.
“We will appoint a matron to oversee the affairs of the women team. We did not appoint the coach for the women team but the same coaches for the men’s team will be coaching the women’s team,” he said.
Chomba said the appointment of a matron is aimed at ensuring that female pugilists are looked after well.
The ZBF has appointed Wisdom Mudenda as national team coach replacing Kennedy Kanyanta.
Mudenda will be assisted by Greetings Kaonga and Hastings Bwalya.
Jonathan Mwila is new under-20 coach and will be deputised by Denis Zimba and Richard Banda.
Mwila replaces John Chibuta and Maybin Gunduzani.
Former national team trainer Elias Kataya is technical chairman and will also double as team manager for all the teams.
