ZBA needs K18,000 for Botswana outing

By CHISHALA MUSONDA
ZAMBIA Bowling Association (ZBA) needs K18,000 for the 2014 African States Tournament slated for Botswana early next month.
The African States Tournament is pencilled for Jwaneng, Botswana, from September 6 to 13.
Association president Chilombo Chali said in a statement issued in Chingola yesterday that the trip is doubtful.
“Zambia’s participation in the 2014 African States Tournament hangs in [the] balance due to ZBA’s failure to raise the necessary funds to cater for accommodation,” Chali said.
He said the National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) has lessened ZBA’s budgetary burden with the provision of a bus.
Chali said with the NSCZ providing a bus, the association will fund the fuel cost and source for money to accommodate 22 people.
“The Sports Council has lightened the transport burden by providing the bus and ZBA is able to fund fuel and other logistical costs. We urgently require K18,000 to cover our accommodation for two teams of 10 players each plus two officials,” Chali said.
The teams:
Women: Eddah Mpezeni, Evelyn Namutowe, Gertrude Siame, Sophie Matipa and Matimba Like while the manager is Fanny Zulu.
Men: Bright Mwanza, Harry Musonda, Christie Kapata, Alec Barkley and Darlyson Mweetwa.
