ZASA congratulates Lungu

THE Zambia Association in South Africa (ZASA) has congratulated President Lungu on his election and commended him for appointing a woman as vice-president.
ZASA president Ferdinand Simaanya said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that President Lungu’s victory is a testimony of the confidence the Zambian people have in him and the Patriotic Front (PF).
He said ZASA is confident that President Lungu has brought a new voice of hope that will help address elements such as tribalism speedily and amicably.
Mr Simaanya said ZASA is hopeful that President Lungu will address challenges with a spirit of openness.
He said ZASA has no doubt that the president will give Zambia a people-driven constitution that the nation has been pushing for and that his name will stand out in Zambia’s history books.
“Giving Zambia a new constitution will mark the climax of your reign and will indeed be a landmark in our democratic state,” Mr Simaanya said.
And Private Sector Development Association (PSDA) president Yousuf Dodia has called on the new minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Margaret Mwanakatwe to work towards growing the domestic private sector to create more jobs for Zambians.
Mr Dodia said in an interview yesterday that there is need for the ministry to consider supporting more companies owned by Zambians.
