Zanaco, Zesco target top slot

ZANACO and Zesco United will today be seeking to dislodge Power Dynamos from the summit of the Super Division when they take on Green Buffaloes and Nkana, respectively.
Zanaco host Buffaloes in a Week 27 encounter while Zesco face reigning champions Nkana in a reverse Week 12 clash.
Power have 53 points, one better than Zanaco and Zesco.
Power are away to Napsa Stars tomorrow.
Zesco have a chance to move to the summit of the log for at least 24 hours.
They have not lost to Nkana since 2004.
This match is played at a time when Nkana have contributed three players to the national team while Zesco have Nyambe Mulenga away with the Chipolopolo.
Striker Ronald Kampamba and defenders Donashano Malama and Christopher Munthali are in Niger but Nkana have depth in Festus Mbewe, Shadreck Musonda and Billy Mwanza.
“We have to fight for every point. It’s something we have to do to have a chance of retaining the title,” Nkana coach Bestone Chambeshi said in Kitwe yesterday.
But Zesco are on a high and will be eager to end Nkana’s title chase.
“Our hopes are still very high. We just have to work hard, push and embrace the spirit of teamwork [and]all the other things will fall in place,” Zesco coach George Lwandamina said.
Winstone Kalengo, Jackson Mwanza, Cletus Chota and Maybin Mwaba hold the key for Zesco’s success.
Nkana’s last visit to Zesco ended in a 1-3 defeat.
They have 46 points.
Zanaco will seek to bounce back from last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Nchanga Rangers when they host relegation-threatened Buffaloes at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.
Zanaco coach Aggrey Chiyangi will unleash Moses Phiri, Mathews Macha and Augustine Mulenga to outwit the Adrian Chama-led defence.
But Buffaloes will look to Allan Mukuka, Sebastian Mwansa and Kennedy Chola to climb on the table.
Zanaco edged Buffaloes 3-2 in the reverse fixture at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
Fourth-from-bottom Buffaloes have 28 points.
