COTON Sport coach Minkreo Birwé has warned Zanaco to brace for a tough CAF Champions League match.
Zanaco will tomorrow host Coton Sport in a Group D clash at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
“We are here [Lusaka] to revive our chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals,” Birwé said in an interview through an interpreter in Lusaka yesterday.
Coton Sport arrived yesterday and they are accommodated at Crescent Golf Hotel in Lusaka.
Zanaco and Al Ahly of Egypt have four points apiece, but the North Africans have a better goal difference while Moroccan outfit Wydad Casablanca have three points. Coton Sport have no point.
Birwé said Zanaco’s central defence of Ziyo Tembo and George Chilufya must double their efforts to halt the Cameroonians from clinching victory.
“We have come for three points, nothing else. We know Zanaco. They have difficulties in scoring but again they have not conceded a goal. We have come up with a plan to open up their backline,” Birwé said.
He, however, admitted that the Cameroonians must work hard to halt the Bankers cruise.
Meanwhile, Recreativo do Libolo technical director Fernando Vieira has predicted a tough CAF Confederation Group C match against Zesco United but he is confident his side will triumph on Sunday.
Zesco will host Recreativo in a Group C match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Vieira said the Angolans know Zesco’s weaknesses.
He is confident that if Recreativo play to their best of abilities Zesco will fall.
Viera told Jornal de Angola that the team is focused on winning the remaining matches.
