Zambians urged to eat local indigenous foods

MIKE MUGALA, Lusaka
THE Civil Society on Scaling up Nutrition (CSO-SUN) has urged Zambians to take pride in eating indigenous foods and develop a habit of growing vegetables in their backyards to curb escalating levels of obesity and unhealthy diets.
CSO-SUN has said there is need for Zambians to begin to eat more of traditional vegetables and fruits to promote sustainable diets and healthy living.
In an interview recently, CSO-SUN country coordinator Scot Kaluba said Zambia is one of the most malnourished countries in the world because of unhealthy eating habits.
