Zambian, UK IT firms seal deal

KELLY NJOMBO, Lusaka
A ZAMBIAN company has partnered with a United Kingdom firm to deliver high-quality voice and data services to customers in rural areas.
Telplus Communications Limited has partnered with NSSLGlobal, a United Kingdom-based firm, to enhance sustainable and reliable coverage in Zambia’s remote rural areas where global systems for mobile solutions are poor or non-existent.
NSSLGlobal’s specialised satellite communications is a one-stop shop for single and multiple users, with a focus to reach where mobile service providers have not penetrated, thus guaranteeing communication even in far-flung areas on a 24-hour basis.
Telplus chief executive officer Chim Moore said in a statement that the company currently supplies satellite communication solutions to several defence forces that are deployed in the United Nations peacekeeping missions in the region.
“In line with our roll-out plan for Zambia, we have held discussions with Government explaining how we could bridge the gap through the provision of voice and data services. We are honoured to have partners such as NSSLGlobal. We really appreciate their expertise and experience as we roll out in Zambia and other countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region,” Mrs More said.
Mrs Moore said Telplus is keenly following the construction of 650 health posts by Government throughout the country, which it sees as an opportunity for the delivery of information and communication technology facilities which will boost service delivery in the social sector.
