Zambian farmers invited to participate in Saudi Arabia agriculture trade show

ZAMBIAN farmers have been invited to participate in the Saudi Arabia International Trade Show for Agriculture, Water and Agro- Industry to enable them explore investment opportunities in that country and acquire skills.
Saudi Arabia’s 35th International Trade Show for Agriculture, Water and Agro- Industry is scheduled to take place from October 2 to 5, 2016.
According to a statement availed to the Daily Mail by the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) senior economist of data and statistics research Mainza Chibomba, the show will be held concurrently with the Saudi Agro-Food 2016 and Saudi Food Pack.
“This show is the largest and most prominent trade fair in the Middle East region and has been a perfect forum to shed light on the numerous investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia’s agricultural and food sector. Zambia has since been invited to participate,” he said.
Meanwhile, Yara international, a global agriculture company, has launched its innovative one step forward training programme aimed at uplifting the small-scale farmers in Africa by transferring crop cultivation knowledge, best practice and crop nutrition solutions.
In its weekly brief, ZNFU says one step forward training programmme will be rolled out over the next months in partnership with 40 distributor partners and Musika, a local non-profit organisation.
The programme follows a holistic approach of transferring agronomic principles and best practices throughout the growth cycle.
Under the programme, about 20,000 farmers will be reached in central province.
Last year, Yara purchased Greenbelt Fertilizers which represents its first operational step into Zambia.
