Zambia, Zim share spoils

ZAMBIA and Zimbabwe on Tuesday shared spoils in the A and B Triangular Ladies Golf tournament at Chainama Hills Golf Club in Lusaka.
Zimbabwe emerged victorious in the A division which was the main event while Zambia claimed supremacy in the B division which featured juniors.
Zimbabwe amassed 16 points to top the A division while Zambia and Botswana tied on 10 points each for the second position.
Zambia fielded Mutinta Maimbo, Kekelwa Kwalombota, Jahanvie Walia and Brenda Phiri in the A division.
In the B Division, the Zambian team comprising Mary Shamushita, Sara Zulu, Martha Matyola and Tevengwa Mwango were impressive gathering 16 points to emerge winners.
The Melissa Nawa- coached girls had 13 points in the single and managed three in the foursomes to take their tally to 16.
Botswana claimed the second position with 11 points while Zimbabwe were tailenders with nine.
And speaking at the prize presentation ceremony, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Ronald Chitotela appealed to the private sector to take interest in promoting ladies golf.
Chitotela said Government attaches importance in promoting women’s participation in sport.
Director of Sport Bessy Chelemu pledged continued support towards the development of women sport.
Zambia Ladies Golf Union president Moono Mwila commended companies that contributed towards the hosting of the event.
