The Indeni Petroleum Refinery in Ndola has been temporarily shut down for 12 days, but Government has assured that this will not adversely affect supply to consumers.
Ministry of Energy and Water Development permanent secretary Brigadier General Emeldah Chola said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that the shutdown has been necessitated by the late arrival of the crude feedstock cargo ship that was scheduled to arrive on June 15 but instead arrived on June 18, 2016.
The shutdown is from June 17 to June 28, 2016.
Brig Gen Chola said the three-day delay of the cargo meant Zambia losing its offloading slot at the Single Point Mooring (SPM) in Dar-es-Salaam. The next slot is today.
