Zambia U-17 draw SA

HONE SIAME, Kitwe
ZAMBIA have been pitted against arch-rivals South Africa at the 2014 Africa Union Sports Commission Region Games Cosafa football tournament slated for Zimbabwe.
The under-17 national soccer team has been drawn in Group B alongside reigning champions South Africa, Lesotho, Seychelles and Namibia.
Zambia lost 1-2 to South Africa during the 2012 finals at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Group A comprises hosts Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, Angola and Malawi.
Zambia will start the campaign against Lesotho on December 4 before facing Namibia, South Africa and Seychelles respectively.
Coach Chris Kaunda said the tournament in Bulawayo will help the junior Chipolopolo prepare for 2015 Niger Africa Junior Championship.
“We are ready to face any team in Zimbabwe. We will be playing against our neighbours whom we know very well. We are going there to prepare for next year’s Africa Junior Championship with a view of winning the tournament.
“We are going there [Zimbabwe] to prepare and expose our players. It is a very important preparation for us. The games will help us to come up with a strong team,” Kaunda said.
The tournament will run from December 4-14.
