Zambia reaps $535 million from DRC

ZAMBIA recorded in excess of US$535 million in export of various goods to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), translating in over US$106 million last year.
The positive figures are a result of improved areas of business cooperation, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Christopher Yaluma said in a statement on Monday.
However, Mr Yaluma said the country recorded an increase in imports of about US$816 million from US$988 million in 2016 to US$1.8 billion last year.
He said currently, Zambia and DRC are waiting to operationalise the trade agreement that provides for duty-free quota access of a selected number of goods produced within the country.
