Zambia potential regional breadbasket – Panner

KELVIN CHONGO, Lusaka
ZAMBIA’S natural resource base, stable and investor-friendly policies make it a potential breadbasket for southern Africa, Panner Seed Zambia Limited says.
Panner country lead Samson Nyendwa said agricultural producers are keen to deliver on their promise of contributing to the growth of the sector.
Mr Nyendwa said the country’s large-scale farms are some of the most productive in Africa and an emerging class of medium-scale farmers is contributing to the agricultural value chain.
He said in an interview that small-scale farmers are protecting their soils and increasing yields because of improved maize seeds, fertiliser, mechanisation and conservation farming techniques.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Panner eed meeting with agro-dealers and farmers on Friday, Mr Nyendwa said farmers are currently benefitting from Panner seeds and achieving sustainable agriculture http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
