ZAMBIA has dropped to 96th position on the FIFA Coca-Cola world rankings while South Africa are 66th overall.
The Chipolopolo today face Bafana Bafana in the 2018 Kenya African Nations Championship second round first leg in East London.
The Chipolopolo were ranked 92nd last month.
In Africa, Zambia have dropped by one rung to 25th, 12 places behind South Africa.
Last month, Zambia battered Swaziland 7-0 on aggregate in the 2018 Kenya African Nations Championship first round matches and were held to a goalless draw by Ethiopia in an international friendly in Lusaka last Saturday.
The rankings released on Thursday put Algeria, Zambia’s opponents in next month’s 2018 Russia World Cup qualifier, in 48th overall and eighth on the continent.
Other Group B teams – Cameroon are 36th globally and fifth in Africa while Nigeria are 39th in the world and sixth on the Confederation of African Football standings.
