Zambia, Namibia face off

CECILIA ZULU, Windhoek
DEBUTANTS Zambia today start the ball rolling at the 2014 Africa Women Championship when they face hosts Namibia in a Group A match at Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek.
Six-time champions Nigeria face Ivory Coast in the other Group A match.
Zambia coach Charles Bwale is confident the She-polopolo will perform to expectation.
“We are not here as tourists but our aim is to win the cup. It will be the only passage to the 2015 World Championship,” Bwale said.
Hazel Nali will start in goal, Ethel Chama, Anita Mulenga, Annie Kibanji and Emelda Musonda will be in defence while skipper Kabange Mupopo and Mary Mwakapila will be supplying balls to Hellen Mubanga and Australia-based Theresa Howes.
Noria Sosala and Nchawaka Saili are other options in attack.
But Namibia coach Jaqueline Shipanga thinks otherwise.
“We know it will be a crucial match but we just have to win.  We can’t afford to lose on our own soil,” Shipanga said.
Zambia drew 2-2 with Namibia at the 2006 Cosafa Women’s Championship in Lusaka.
