Zambia to host energy conference next week

THE first-ever Zambia International Energy Conference (ZIEC) that will create a platform for policy-makers and stakeholders to discuss developments in the energy sector is expected to be held next week.
The conference being organised by Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water Development, Stanbic Bank, Energy Regulation Board (ERB), the Rural Electrification Authority (REA) and electricity supply company Zesco under the theme, “Power and Energy: Unlocking Zambia’s Investment Potential at 50”, slated for November 25 to 27, will look at investment and financial challenges being faced in the implementation of power and energy projects and identify solutions to the problems.
This is according to a statement issued by KPR Consulting on behalf of Stanbic Bank Zambia on Tuesday.
“It will create a platform for increased interaction among stakeholders with the purpose of disseminating information on government policy, showcasing potential and ongoing projects,” the statement reads.
The conference will be officiated by Minister of Mines, Energy and Water Development Christopher Yaluma while speakers include Standard Bank Group vice-president for power and infrastructure franchise Jeannot Boussougouth and ERB executive director Langiwe Lungu.
Other speakers are Southern Africa Independent Power Producers legal advisor Lena Mangondo, Zesco managing director Cyprian Chitundu and REA chief executive Geoffrey Musonda.
