Zambia gets UK plaudits

ALVIN CHIINGA, Lusaka
THE Zambian Government has been commended for implementing the United Kingdom (UK)-Zambia Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) that seeks to protect companies from double taxation.
British High Commissioner to Zambia James Thornton said the DTA replaces a 1972 DTA between the UK and Zambia.
In a statement yesterday, Mr Thornton said the DTA will make it easier for both British and Zambian companies to conduct business.
“We are delighted that the DTA has been published. It will make it easier for both British and Zambian companies to do business. The DTA eliminates administrative burdens and the additional costs to business of the same income being taxed twice,” he said.
He said that a statutory instrument has now been published by the Zambian government.
