Zambia endorses Lagarde

ZAMBIA has joined several other countries across the globe in endorsing the candidature of International Monetary Fund (IMF) managing director Christine Lagarde for a second term of office.
Minister of Finance Alexander Chikwanda said in a statement yesterday that Zambia is strongly in support of Ms Lagarde’s candidature for a second term as head of the IMF.
Mr Chikwanda said Zambia believes Ms Lagarde’s exceptional talent coupled with wide experience will provide invaluable leadership to the IMF in handling pressing global economic issues.
He said Ms Lagarde has demonstrated professionalism and provided quality leadership and direction in tackling various policy issues at the IMF.
Among the countries which have already tendered their support for Ms Lagarde are Brazil, China, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Finland, Mexico, the Netherlands and South Korea.
