Zambia, China military co-operation praised

STEVEN MVULA, Lusaka
GOVERNMENT has commended China for the growing military co-operation between the two countries.
Deputy Minister of Defence Christopher Mulenga said in a speech read by his Education counterpart, Sydney Mushanga, that China has continued to assist Zambia in the field of training, logistics and health, among others.
“Our military cooperation has continued to grow from strength to strength. The Zambia defence force and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army have over the years been co-operating in various fields,” Mr Mulenga said.
The minister said this on Tuesday night at the 88th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army of China.
Mr Mulenga said China has continued to live up to its reputation of being an all-weather friend to Zambia.
“China also continues to play a significant role in the economic development of our country in a number of sectors including the area of defence.
“On behalf of the Minister of Defence (President Lungu) and the Zambia defence force, we commend the great people of China for their continued support to Zambia. We look forward to more collaboration and partnership,” Mr Mulenga said.
