Yara prize honouring to be transformed

THE Yara prize, Africa’s prestigious award that recognises outstanding contributions to reducing hunger and poverty is expected to be transformed into a new African and food security prize to be more fully embedded within the African continent.
The prize was first established in 2005 by Yara International ASA , a global manufacture of fertiliser to recognise individuals across Africa who seek innovative approaches to sustainable, productive and profitable agriculture endeavours on and off the farm.
“This new African agriculture and food security prize will continue to embody the values established by the Yara prize, which has become a powerful beacon for attracting global attention to the impressive women and men who are forging a new future for African agriculture,” Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) president and past prize receipient Agnes Kalibata said.
