World Bank provides $575 million

THE World Bank will provide Zambia with US$575 million under the International Development Association (IDA) programme in the next three years.

World Bank country manager Ina-Marlene Ruthenberg said IDA is part of the bank that aims to reduce poverty by providing loans and grants for programmes to boost economic growth, reduce inequalities and improve people’s living conditions in the poorest countries.
Appearing before a budget committee chaired by Kabompo West Member of Parliament Ambrose Lufuma, Ms Ruthenberg said being in the IDA category, Zambia qualifies to access soft loans from the bank.
