LIONS Club of Woodlands has donated window panes and window frames worth K9,000 for the rehabilitation of the male students’ dormitory at Chiyota Youth Resources Centre (CYRC) in Chongwe.
During the donation, club president Frida Banda said, “Lions Club of Woodlands constructed a male dormitory here at CYRC in 1980s, because when the institution was constructed there were no boarding facilities. Students were forced to rent in the nearby villages.â€
Ms Banda said over the years Lions Club has come to the aid of the centre, a move she said has also resulted in the construction of a kitchen.
“After this we will we can give the dormitory a fresh coat of paint,†the president said.
Projects committee vice-chairperson Lion Boniface Chitundu said the club will go a step further by putting up bunk beds to make the centre more habitable.
And manager Remmy Samechi said he was grateful for the donation towards rehabilitation of the male dormitory. He called on students to properly look after the facility after the rehabilitation works are completed; and warned of stern action against any vandalism.
