The woman, identified as Miriam Mulenga, allegedly caused the deaths of her two children on January 24 this year.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said in a statement yesterday Mulenga has been detained.

She said Mulenga will appear in court soon.
And a nine-month-old baby has died on the spot while six others sustained injuries in a road accident in Livingstone.
The accident, which sparked a riot resulting in the arrest of 11 people, happened around 15:00 hours on Sambono Road.
Southern Province commissioner of police Bonny Kapeso said in an interview yesterday the child, identified as Joseph Musonda, was strapped on his mother’s back when the accident happened.
The boy’s mother, Cecilia Mubita, 42, suffered an arm injury which compelled medical experts to amputate the limb at Livingstone Central Hospital.
Mr Kapeso said an irate mob shattered the windscreen of a police vehicle during the riot.
He said calm has returned to the area and police officers have continued patrolling Dambwa township and Livingstone central business district.
