Wishes of a nonagenarian

MARGARET CHISANGA, Kabwe
IN A nondescript structure, about 500 metres from the rail line which separates Kabwe’s Bwacha residential area from the sprawling township of Nakoli lives 93-year-old Faides Ngolobola.
From the confines of this seven room crumbling structure, with its roof threatening to curve in, Faides reminisces over the years of hyped meetings at the Mulungushi Rock of Authority, famed for initiating the events which brought forth the promised joys of independence.
“I remember meetings with lots of important people, and how we would prepare especially when we knew that [First President Kenneth] Kaunda would be coming to Kabwe, ehh it would be so busy,” she says with a tinge of pride. http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
