‘Why PF should be voted back’

THE Patriotic Front (PF) has in the last 10 years “miraculously” laid a strong foundation for economic take-off and Zambia ranks top in the region. Former Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Dora Siliya said amidst challenges, especially the near-collapse of the world economy, Zambia has been steered clear despite the challenges. Ms Siliya, who is Patriotic Front (PF) Petauke Central parliamentary candidate, said depreciation of the Kwacha which is highly criticised by opposition political parties has been exacerbated by payment of external debt by Government. She said this yesterday at Mulungushi International Conference Centre during a PF virtual public meeting. Ms Siliya said it is also a “miracle” that the country’s economy has not collapsed due to low productivity caused by COVID-19. “Government took a decisive action and borrowed the money because we could not fold our hands and watch our country fall,” Ms Siliya said. She also said that in the last one year, Government has supported over 632,000 people on Social Cash Transfer, and by the close of 2021, the number will rise to 994,000.
