When Chef checked in

CHEF 187 at G-Greens in Solwezi last weekend.

BUTTYSON KANDIMBA, Solwezi
SOLWEZI was last weekend a hive of activity with the mining town hosting award-winning hip-hop artiste Chef 187 at G-Greens Night Club on Friday and Drimz the following night.First, the show for Chef, or Chefy, as some of his die-hard fans prefer to call him.
With entry pegged at K20 per person, the show started slightly before midnight and the turnout was impressive.
Immediately after being ushered into the venue, Chef 187 did not disappoint his fans, who came in numbers to watch the Kopala swag star.
Chef 187 went straight into business and performed a number of songs from his previous albums, much to the excitement of the fans.
It was evident that the hip-hop star met the expectations of his fans after displaying a four-hour, long performance before the capacity crowd.
A number of local budding artists from Solwezi and the Copperbelt were also on hand to support Chef 187 as they took turns to perform before the capacity crowd to expose their talent.
Unlike the time when Macky II was at the same venue and security was tightened, things were a little relaxed for Chef 187 who, it seemed, wanted to have a closer interaction with his fans.
The fans loved it.
Prior to Chef 187’s performance, showgoers had an opportunity to witness a once-in-a-lifetime lunar eclipse as the patrons left their seats to stand in the open capturing the proceedings on their mobile phones.
On Saturday night, the party continued at the same venue but this time with Drimz.
The Kabwe-based artiste was on top of his game.
He too did not disappoint his fans who came in numbers to watch him.
Drimz or Mr Music, as he calls himself, performed most of his popular songs as patrons sang and danced along.
And speaking in an interview later, G-Greens operations manager Simon Ipungu said the nightclub will continue to bring the best artists to Solwezi to give an opportunity to residents in the new mining town to have better entertainment at weekends.
Ipungu described the two shows as a success and that G-Greens is currently building one of the best nightclubs in Solwezi which will be of world-class standard.
“It will be the first of its kind where we will even have shower rooms, a VIP lounge to cater for a certain class, a boutique, a casino, a barbershop, mobile money services and many other features,” he said.
