NATIONAL team coach Wedson Nyirenda has recalled Egypt-based striker Emmanuel Mayuka for Friday’s international friendly against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.
Mayuka, who turns up for Egyptian side Zamalek, last donned Chipolopolo colours in 2015.
“It has been a long time he [Mayuka] has been with us. He is playing, he has been doing well for Zamalek. We want to see how he can play and fit in with our philosophy,” Nyirenda said.
In a statement released by Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) communications manager Desmond Katongo in Lusaka yesterday, Nyirenda has selected 28 players among them first-choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene.
Mweene campaigns for South Africa side Mamelodi Sundoans and Nyirenda wants to assess him because he has seen little game time at the club.
Nyirenda wants to assess the players ahead of the 2018 Kenya African Nations Championship qualifier against Swaziland in July this year and the 2019 Cameroon Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique in June this year.
He has given debut call-ups to Zanaco defender Taonga Bwembya, Zamcoal Diggers midfielder Mukubanga Siabombe and Napsa Stars duo of defender Isaac Shamujompa and striker Chitiya Mususu.
The team:
Goalkeepers: Jacob Banda (Zesco United) Racha Kola (Zanaco) Allan Chibwe (Power Dynamos) Kennedy Mweene (Mamelodi Sundowns)
