NORTH-WESTERN Province director of health Bushimbwa Tambatamba says the province is faced with a critical shortage of midwives. Speaking during the handover ceremony of a refurbished midwifery hostel at Solwezi School of Nursing and Midwifery, Dr Tambatamba said the province only has two colleges of nursing training midwives resulting in a critical shortage of midwives. The hostel, which was built in 1978, has been renovated by FQM Trident Limited through its Trident Foundation Limited (TFL) at a cost of K876,000.
