I AM appalled at the behaviour of some members of the public and how they buy food on the streets like there is no cholera outbreak in Lusaka.
Such an attitude is scaring and it defeats the fight against cholera. People should understand that cholera spreads quickly as long as they do not observe the simple rules of hygiene.
The vendors of the foods should also help the Lusaka City Council by adhering to the directive not to sell food for this time when we have an outbreak. I know that the municipality is trying its best but it is the people who are letting it down. I urge the council not to relent in its efforts. It should continue with its crackdown against those found selling food. We want a cholera free Lusaka.
