CHIMANGENI BANDA, Windhoek
GOVERNMENT has terminated the concession contract for the management of the dry port facility at Walvis Bay due to poor performance and under-utilisation of the facility.
Zambia’s High Commissioner to Namibia Steven Katuka says Government has given the concessionaire six months’ notice of termination.
Mr Katuka told ZANIS that Government had become concerned that the concessionaire had not been doing well.
“We received communication from the government that we intend to terminate the contract,” he said. “I have served them notice and in six months’ time, they should be leaving that place and we start looking for a new tenant.”
