Vubwi gets 30 civil servant houses

GOVERNMENT will spend over K6 million to build 30 institutional houses for civil servants in Vubwi, district commissioner Enelesi Banda has said.
Ms Banda said Government has embarked on a housing project in the area to enable civil servants to have access to decent accommodation.
She said in an interview yesterday that Vubwi is a newly created district, which does not have decent accommodation for civil servants.
Ms Banda also said the housing project will help to attract both civil servants and investment to the area.
She said in an interview yesterday that once the houses are completed, civil servants will no longer be required to travel long distances from Chipata to work in Vubwi and this will enhance service delivery.
She said the construction of houses is expected to start in the next two weeks and that the contractor has already moved on site.
“I am very happy that this strategy will enable people to come and stay and work in Vubwi instead of driving every day from Chipata, which costs a lot of money, ” she said.
Ms Banda also said the connection of Vubwi district to the national electricity grid will enhance development in the area.
