Village banking debt lands woman in court

FAILURE to pay money she is owing a village banking group has landed a woman of Chaisa Township in trouble.
Mwiza Namute, 24, a community-based trainer for Financial Sector Deepening Zambia, has sued Agness Mubita, 40, for defaulting payment of contributions to the informal bank.
Namute told the court that Mubita owes the group K1,060 and wants the court to compel her to pay that amount.
She said the accused has been struggling to pay her dues to the ‘village bank’ from June this year and this was inconveniencing other group members.
