PRISCILLA CHIPULU, Kasama
KASAMA member of Parliament Kelvin Sampa has urged the business community to take advantage of the booming
economic and tourism activities in Northern Province to operate in the region.
Speaking when he visited Chishimba Falls on Monday, Mr Sampa urged both foreign and local tourists to find time to visit the site, which is a marvel.
Mr Sampa said Chishimba Falls is a unique tourist site.
He called for aggressive marketing of the falls because currently, most foreign and local tourists only know about the Victoria Falls in Livingstone.
Mr Sampa is, however, confident that with the upgrading of Kasama Airport, more tourists will find it easy to fly in the province and visit Chishimba Falls.
“Most people only know and visit the Victoria Falls while the country has other spectacular waterfalls such as Chishimba Falls,” he said.
Mr Sampa said Northern Province is endowed with several waterfalls such as Lumangwe, which is between 30 and 40 metres high and 130 metres wide.
He said Government has prioritised tourism because it has a huge potential to contribute to the country’s gross domestic product.
