THE University Teaching Hospital (UTH) will today conduct a screening exercise for young people with kidney- related complications to raise awareness about the health problem.
UTH head of the renal unit Aggrey Mweemba said in an interview in Lusaka on Thursday that the screening will take place at Arcades Shopping Mall in Lusaka, to coincide with World Kidney Day, which falls on March 16 every year.
Dr Mweemba said many young people are suffering from kidney-related illnesses and there is need to draw public attention to preventing kidney complications by early detection.
He said most cases are presented to UTH very late, making it difficult for doctors to do anything about them.
The screening exercise will be conducted from 08:00 hours to 18:00 hours.
