US, UK remain Zambia’s friends


THE United States and the United Kingdom have assured Zambia of their continued partnerships to uplifting the living standards of the local people.
Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Central Province Minister Sydney Mushanga on Wednesday, US Ambassador to Zambia Daniel Foote said his country will continue partnering with the Zambian government to improve lives of the people.
Mr Foote said the US government is assisting Zambia with funding of over US$500 million every year, making it the biggest bilateral donor of direct assistance to the country.
“The vast majority of which is in the health and water sector. I believe that the most important resource Zambia has is its people and because of that, we invest so heavily in the health sector,” Mr Foote said.
