US aids ERB with $780,000

THE Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has received US$780,000 from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for capacity building programmes.ERB executive director Langiwe Lungu said this here yesterday on the sidelines of the peer review on Zambia’s regulatory partnership for off-grid systems.
Ms Lungu said the review is being done under the newly-established Zambia energy regulatory partnership between the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and ERB supported by USAID under the Power Africa Programme.
“This institutional strengthening programme supports ERB in its efforts to reinforce Zambia’s regulatory frameworks to create an enabling environment for investment in the energy sector,” she said.
