Union warns political workers

THE Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia (CSAWUZ) has cautioned civil servants against engaging in partisan politics because they are responsible for

implementing programmes of the government of the day.
Central Province CSAWUZ secretary Richard Salivaje says some civil servants have a tendency of engaging in partisan politics when the code of conduct for public service workers is clear about such practices.
Mr Salivaje said in an interview on Wednesday that civil servants have a responsibility of serving the people and the government of the day.
“For us as workers, we work for the government of the day and we are there to serve the people,” he said.
Mr Salivaje said CSAWUZ will not protect any civil servant cited for engaging in partisan politics during the course of their work.
