Ugandan striker’s career under threat

CHAMPIONS Nkana have suffered a blow in their quest to retain the Super Division title after Ugandan striker Tony Odur suffered a career-threatening knee injury.
Odur, who joined Nkana from Kampala City Council Authority in July this year, sustained the injury in Nkana’s 0-1 defeat to Konkola Blades in Wednesday’s rescheduled Week 17 match in Chililabombwe.
He was substituted and was rushed to Konkola Mine Hospital for treatment.
Team doctor Dominic Muswala said on Friday that Odur is admitted at Kitwe’s Wusakile Mine Hospital.
“We suspect he twisted his knee. He is bleeding within the joint but at this stage, nothing can be done on him because it is difficult to examine a swollen knee,” Muswala said.
Odur has made four appearances for the Kitwe giants.
He made his debut in a 2-0 defeat to Napsa Stars at home as a substitute.
The Ugandan scored his debut goal last month in a 2-1victory over pacesetters Zanaco.
Nkana are fifth on the log with 32 points, 12 behind Zanaco.
