UNDER-17 national team players are confident of winning the Africa Junior Championship title.
Zambia will be making a debut at the continental showpiece kicking off in Niger next Sunday.
Midfielder Edwin Chipile said in Lusaka yesterday that the junior Chipolopolo will travel to Niger to conquer.
“Qualifying for the World Cup is key, though we also need to lift the cup to complete our success,” Chipile said.
Goalkeeper Jackson Kakunta said the team is equal to the task.
“People should underrate us at their own peril because we are champions in our own way. No team will intimidate us because we know what we are going there for,” he said.
Another goalkeeper Albert Mwanza said the team needs to work together if success is to be attained.
Defender Alfred Chirwa said the team is going to Niger to lift the cup.
Zambia are drawn in Group A with Guinea, Nigeria and hosts Niger while Group B has Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Mali and South Africa.
The semi-finalists will qualify for the World Junior Championship set for Chile in October this year.
