Tragedy engulfs Nkana after player’s death

THE problems at Super Division champions Nkana are well-documented but death to a member of the playing staff is not one which the football fraternity thought could be added to the list.
Yet 48 hours after winning the season-opening Charity Shield and days before opening their league campaign, Nkana are made to deal with the death of midfielder Chrispine ‘Wado’ Mulenga.
Nkana chief executive officer Charles Chakatazya confirmed the death of Mulenga at Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH), where he was rushed to after being involved in a road accident in Ndeke Township.
“The accident happened yesterday [Sunday] around 23:00hrs, but he did not die on the spot, he was taken to Wusakile Hospital, then he was referred to Kitwe Central Hospital,” Chakatazya said in an interview yesterday.
